Long Hoa Gathering

The Long Hoa Assembly is a concept mentioned in Cao Dai and some sects in the South, when Maitreya Bodhisattva descends to sit under the Long Hoa tree and becomes Buddha, he will open the Long Hoa Assembly, teaching sentient beings. The Long Hoa Assembly is believed to originate from the period of opening the Long Hoa Assembly with Maitreya as the chief examiner, this is the final examination to confer Buddhahood.

According to Buddhist scriptures, Shakyamuni Buddha prophesied to Maitreya Bodhisattva (Maitreya Bodhisattva): After his Dharma is completely destroyed, in the future, Maitreya Buddha (Maitreya Tathagata) will be born, the 8th Buddha out of 1000 Buddhas in the virtuous kalpa. Maitreya Buddha is a Bodhisattva of the First Birth[1] who succeeded Shakyamuni Buddha in establishing the Long Hoa Dharma Assembly to transform sentient beings. After prosperity, there will be decline, after decline, prosperity again, Shakyamuni Buddha has entered nirvana, Maitreya Buddha will be born next, so the true Dharma is still immortal. From the time Shakyamuni Buddha passed away until now, according to Buddhist scriptures, it is divided into three periods: True Dharma, Image Dharma, and Dharma Ending:
